When adult life gets in the way, it can be easy to put less effort into your relationship with your husband or wife. From housework and childcare to work commitments and family plans, the pressures of everyday life can quickly have an impact on a marriage.

1. Make time for fun

As silly as it may sound, many people find that their busy lifestyles mean any source of fun is cut out first. As a couple, discuss what you want to do together and make sure to free up time in your calendars. Whether its spending an hour each evening going for a stroll in the park, watching your favourite TV show together, or cooking a handmade meal for you to enjoy, uninterrupted quality time is exactly what you may need. As well as the smaller things, decide on how frequently you can allocate date nights, whether its fortnightly or monthly, and plan an exciting activity for you both enjoy together.

Communication is another base level trait which needs to be maintained, saying what is on your mind, both positive and negative. Verbalising any issues, you have will mean you can talk through any problems and resolve them, working on anything you could improve going forward. By having this level of respect for each other, a marriage is proven much more likely to succeed as you come together to improve.
